RETURN TO YOURSELF

One-on-one coaching for people who want to live more life at midlife

For many of us, there comes a point in life when life asks for more.

More honesty. More creativity. More meaning or intimacy or fun.

But more isn’t out there in front of you somewhere. It’s not a destination, or a new thing you need to become.

The more your life is asking for is right here, within you—a return to your own wholeness.

Through mindful, creative coaching, I’ll walk with you there.

I know we don’t know each other yet, but here are a few things I do know.

Your old ways of doing things—of finding inspiration, connection, and satisfaction—may no longer work, but you’re not broken.

It might seem like the path to get from where you are to where you want to go is blocked, or like there’s no path at all, but you’re not lost

You might feel like the spark of life has fizzled out, like it’s too late or too much has happened to start again, but you’re not done.

How do I know? Because I’ve been there.

I’ve poured my heart and soul into work that left me exhausted and underwhelmed, uncertain I’d ever feel excited about work again.

I’ve wrestled with my own inner critic and creative blocks, positive I had nothing worthwhile to express.

I’ve been heartbroken by divorce and felt like there was no point in even bothering with love again.

You don’t need my whole story—it’s not a miracle story, by any means—but I will say that I made it through.

Not to a perfect life, but to a life that’s meaningful and rich. A life that feels like me.

I’m telling you this because I can help you get through, too.

Whether you’re launching kids or a new chapter in your career, looking to take creative risks or risk more authenticity in relationships, I’ll help you:

  • reconnect to parts of yourself that have been neglected, disconnected, or repressed

  • remember the unique spark that has always been yours

  • and return to your wholeness

…so the next chapter of your life unfolds with greater connection, fulfillment, and joy.

Robert helped me recognize that I have everything I need in me to make the best decisions for myself and to stop looking for answers elsewhere.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

REMEMBER WHO YOU REALLY ARE.

At the heart of our work is a process of returning, remembering, and reclaiming.

With compassion, curiosity, and a creative lens, we’ll investigate what wants to come alive within you and give it space, care, and voice.

We’ll identify what’s in the way—old stories, family programming, grief, beliefs—and we’ll creatively engage with and heal or release them.

Using tools and practices from coaching, improv, poetry, depth psychology, somatics and more, we will outcreate—that is, create an energy that’s more aligned and irresistible than—any challenge or obstacle so that your true and full expression comes to life.

I can’t say for sure what things look like from there because that’s up to your unique soul and goals.

I can say that the energy and freedom that come from reclaiming your wholeness has a ripple effect:

Making new moves at work shifts how you show up at home.
Taking creative risks energizes your physical health.
And so on.

By reclaiming your wholeness, you get the clarity you need to live a life that feels alive.

…working with Robert was like an exfoliation. All the layers and masks I had on were scrubbed away. He took me back to myself. I met myself after a very long time.

WHY WORK WITH ME?

I’m a coach with an artist’s lens.

I’ve spent much of my adult life working in and exploring the creative arts.

I have a BA in English Literature and an MFA in Film Production. I spent twenty seven years advising students and designing curriculum at San Francisco State University’s College of Extended Learning.

Beyond academia and career, I’ve been making films, writing poetry and songs, and expanding my vision as a photographer for years.

While it may sound like this makes me creative, what it really makes me is open to new ways of seeing, hearing, and expressing.

I’ve learned how to creatively navigate and/or break through seemingly insurmountable blocks, both for myself and for others. I know how to listen between the lines for a deeper truth.

This is who I am, how I live, and how I show up as your coach.

My approach is grounded in these areas:

Robert has an uncanny sense of recasting the way one looks at things…Things that seemed daunting six months ago are now surmountable simply by applying the tools I learned during our sessions. I would recommend Robert to anyone looking to make a shift in their lives.
